because I’m speaking interstate at a writers’ festival xx

I’m away for work as of today (which I completely forgot about until my boss asked me if I wanted to meet at the hotel on Friday).

Also, in the interest of full disclosure, I’m also speaking at the Young Writer’s festival in Newcastle at the very end of September, too, so the update schedule looks like this:

My editor and I had a mismatch in schedules (we’re both very busy!) and as a result she can’t look at the chapter until next weekend, and there’s no way in hell I’m publishing anything at this point in the book without her careful once-over and critique.
